ConureDelSol
I can honestly say I've never seen a chick tract in my life. Why do they call them "chick" tracts anyway? All I can think is that maybe they came straight from a hot Christian chick's ass.
Akheia
They're called that because the guy who made them is named Jack Chick. That's his actual name, apparently. His website has pretty much all of them in archives so you can read to your heart's content. They're all really awful, but some are worse than others; he is incredibly racist and the things he says about pagans, Catholics, and Muslims are, frankly, hate-speech-level lies. He also put out some comic books, though I don't think he illustrated them. There was a smokin' hot blond guy who looked like Fred from Scooby Doo, and his stereotypical black sidekick and they'd go around and do good deeds and refuse the many amorous advances of, in one example, hot blonde Russian spies who then converted because of the Americans' sincerity and zealotry. Then the spies got arrested in the USSR and dragged off to Siberian gulags to enjoy the attentions of fat evil Communists, but did Fred and his stereotypical black sidekick go rescue them? OH NO. They were already saved, apparently, so why bother? The comics Chick put out about the Illuminati were also comedy gold and not to be missed if you can find them. London
I just love those! We used to find them all over town when I was a kid. They are like this evil comic book always warning you about the terror that lurks just around the corner. I have considered downloading some of them and re-writing them, and then reposting them online for the entire world to do as they please with them. I know it's not legal to do that but it's always been an idea. Well... if you're doing a parody of them, that would be Fair Use, perfectly legal. But I want to do all of them and that would not be considered fair use. But I am still tempted to find my favorites and do those. Never saw the comic books, might have to search for them just to check it out. The one you describe sounds like a bad gay porn plot.

He came out with one that was so anti catholic, many christians book stores stopped carrying them, then he came out a bunch more at the same anti catholic level, then he re wrote a bunch of his publishings to be anti catholic etc

antix
they went from being a useful tool for christianity to becoming upsurd propaganda http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1081/1081_01.asp
Kurari
LOL, I wrote and drew two (awful) parodies of chick tracts once on MS Paint a looooooong time ago. My favorite will always be the D&D one. Chick Tracts point to one thing: Only Jack Chick will ever get into heaven, according to Jack Chick. He hates everybody.

Only because, just like the Chick tracts, they scared the living crap out of me. I still have a couple of them, I might try and scan a few pages and share them here, they are seriously bizarre to me now. Lots of conspiracy theories wrapped in Starsky and Hutch-style seventies detective yarns. One is about how satan-worshippers control the recording industry. They are gold. JadedAtheist
I cannot describe the level of anger and frustration I feel when I come across these tracts, so this image will have to do as a meager representation of what's going on inside:

I used to have some dog eared copies of those, I'm betting I still do but I'd have to go through my old stack of comics when I get home. Anyways you can read samples here: http://www.chick.com...g/comiclist.asp This one used to be my favorite, satan is too cool!! http://www.chick.com...comics/0109.asp
