I'm pretty new here, too, but I can definitely say that I've always felt welcome and have been able to connect with people here on all sorts of topics. You're very articulate, so I'm sure you'll have no problem making friends here and I hope that you find comfort in surrounding yourself with support here and better people in your "offline" life, too At any rate, just keep asking people to watch Big Bang Theory with you... love that show!!
