Poonis
All, I'm testing out a new scale for measuring how christians evade the question at hand, called the SCB, or 'Slippery Christian Beliefs' scale. It's range is from 1 to 10, with 1 being the most direct and confirming answer to a question, and 10 being the most evasive manner used to side-step the question. For a higher score, there are factors such as: "agree to disagree" "upper-case bible verse" "length of diatribe" "closing with a verse" "responding only with a verse" "weak response with quasi-philosophical attempt" "ambiguous belief" "belief that contradicts another christian denomination" "cut-and-paste response" "cut-and-paste response without quoting author" Anyone else have other factors they think are necessary? I am employing this to help me determine what is a good christian response to theological inquiries of ex-christians. thanks

Amethyst
How about: I'm right because I "know" God exists, even if there's no proof. My cube mate uses that one most of the time. Or just plain "I'm right and you're not, because I 'know' that." Spouting out random illogical arguments like "my stress ball exists so that proves god exists" -- seriously, my cube mate has used that one. "Weak response with quasi-philosophical attempt" -- my cube mate has done that many, many times. "Agree to disagree" - my cube mate has done that also, but he forgets and preaches again. My cube mate has gone on extremely long-winded diatribes. He has also tried spouting random verses. "Belief that contradicts another christian denomination" -- oh yeah, he's done that too. He views other denominations as "cults" even though he claims not to, but you can tell by what he says about them that he does.

Vigile
How about equating us with the devil or Satin? Serpent Serenity seems to get a lot of that (that's just because she is wiley with their word)
Vulgaris Prime
How about equating us with the devil or Satin? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd rather be compared with cotton. Down-to-earth natural fibers are my bag.

Amethyst
How about equating us with the devil or Satin? Satin? Sure, I'd love to be equated with such a luxurious fabric. Who wouldn't?
Caretaker
You know, I remember being a little kid and I loved Satan. Actually, when I was young, we had a cat named Satan.... It wasn't until after Satan had passed that I found out the other definition....
